The Data Privacy Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing data privacy strategies and programs across the Sandhills Global organization, and will work closely with the company’s data managers, legal team, IT team, and business stakeholders to ensure that data collection, storage, processing, and sharing are aligned with the applicable laws and standards.  This role will be focused on business and technology operational concerns and will work closely with IT, software developers, and other related business stakeholders.  Assume other duties assigned as needed.

Key responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement data privacy strategies and programs across the business
  • Manage implementation of Privacy by Design throughout the organization
  • Collaborate with data managers, legal and IT departments, and business stakeholders to ensure that data collection, storage, processing, and sharing are aligned with the applicable laws and standards, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Monitor and audit data privacy risks, evaluate their impact, and implement appropriate controls
  • Coordinate data mapping, impact assessments, and other data privacy initiatives and projects
  • Provide guidance and training on data privacy best practices and issues
  • Develop and maintain data privacy policies addressing applicable regulations such as GDPR and CCPA
  • Assist with data subject access requests, data deletion requests, and other privacy-related inquiries from individuals
  • Assist with assessing privacy practices of third-party vendors
  • Educating employees on data privacy policies and procedures

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor or master’s degree with major in Data Management, Computer Science, Law or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Must have experience with, and a solid understanding of, data management concepts and tools, data governance, data quality, data security, data architecture, and data analytics
  • Technical experience or a functional understanding of databases, including SQL and JSON databases (Note that database management experience is not required)
  • 5-7 years minimum experience in compliance or data privacy
  • Professional understanding of the relevant data privacy laws and regulations (including GDPR and CCPA), and their application to different types of data and industries
  • Effective communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, project management and operation analysis 
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders across the company
  • Ability to handle complex and sensitive data privacy matters, and maintain confidentiality and proper discretion
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Proven project management experience, particularly related to data privacy initiatives or projects
  • In the absence of strong experience in the field, additional certifications related to data privacy, such as the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) or Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)

  • In Office Position. 4.5 day regular work week. The ability to commute daily to local office is required.
