Description

Midwest Eye Care is looking for an Surgery Scheduler at our location in West Omaha 13500 California Street

Fulltime Hours – 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday thru Friday

In this role YOU will:

• Schedule Surgeries: Coordinate the scheduling of surgical procedures, ensuring efficient utilization of operating rooms and necessary resources. 
• Consult with Physicians: Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to determine surgical availability and prioritize cases based on medical urgency.
• Patient Coordination: Communicate with patients to schedule surgeries, provide preoperative instructions, and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
• Resource Management: Ensure availability of operating rooms, surgical equipment, and necessary supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Documentation: Accurately record and maintain surgical schedules, patient information, and other relevant data in electronic medical records (EMR) or other designated systems.
• Preauthorization and Insurance Verification: Coordinate with insurance companies and obtain necessary preauthorization for surgical procedures, ensuring proper billing and reimbursement.
• Conflict Resolution: Address scheduling conflicts, unexpected changes, and emergencies, coordinating with appropriate personnel to minimize disruptions and maintain patient care standards.
• Communication: Collaborate with various departments, including nursing staff and patient registration in the ASC to ensure smooth coordination and optimal patient care.
• Compliance: Adhere to all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, including privacy and confidentiality guidelines, while handling patient information.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance scheduling processes, streamline operations and improve patient satisfaction, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Outstanding candidates will have:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance verification processes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and managing scheduling logistics.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity while executing responsibilities.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a healthcare or medical office setting, preferably in surgical scheduling or a related role.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) or scheduling software.
