On-site supervision of cardio and strength training areas during scheduled shifts. Provide supervision of the fitness floor under the supervision of full-time professional staff. Assist members with general use of strength and cardio equipment including set-up and safety features. Provide a safe, professional, welcoming and inclusive environment for staff and participants.
â?¢ Training and knowledge in use of fitness equipment is essential to this position (training provided)
â?¢ Help keep fitness floor areas clean, orderly and clear of hazards
â?¢ Educate participants and staff on safe participation during activities and enforce policies and procedures
â?¢ Recognize dangerous practices in the fitness floor area, stepping in to prevent accident or injury
â?¢ Assist with any injury or incidents while on duty, submit injury reports according to protocol
â?¢ Spot patrons safely during lifts if asked to do so by patron
â?¢ Respond to emergency situations as needed
â?¢ Attend all staff meetings and trainings
â?¢ Provide information about Fitness/Wellness and Recreation programs
â?¢ Report when equipment and supplies are running low or when equipment needs repair or replacement
â?¢ Availability for mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends
â?¢ Students may not work more than 25 hours/week during the academic semester
â?¢ Other duties as assigned by Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness
â?¢ Previous experience with a variety of different types of fitness and weight training equipment preferred, but not required
â?¢ First Aid, CPR & AED Certified, or willing to obtain within 1 month of being hired
â?¢ Must be an IWCC student, with a minimum of 2.0 GPA
â?¢ Must be able to work independently without direct supervision on a day to day basis
â?¢ Must have a passion for fitness and wellness and willingness to share it to create a positive environment
â?¢ Demonstrate strong communication skills, customer service skills, ability to enforce policies and procedures
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone and other basic office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use a phone. Occasional lifting of 10 lbs., reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, and a high degree of problem solving and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
