A Brief Overview

Supports the underwriting business by completing cancellation and motor carrier filing business operations. Technician may create various legal notices related to cancellation and renewal of a policy, process cancellation related endorsements, and will utilize internal and external programs to issue and maintain motor carrier filings on behalf of insured motor carriers. May serve as quality assurance technician. Communicates with agents and regulatory personnel for missing information, signed documentation and clarification of various items and regulatory requirements on behalf of the company and insureds.

What will you do?

  • CANCELLATION AND FILING ACTIVITY: Identifies and/or reviews requests to cancel or reinstate policies to ensure proper regulatory requirements are met. Creates and mails notices of cancellation ensuring compliance with state requirements for mail certification and lead time. Processes cancellation and reinstatement endorsements in-line with company practices and regulatory requirements. Reviews and processes requests for motor carrier filings and other state reporting certificates, ensuring policies meet regulatory requirements, and refers appropriately to underwriting for approval of requests when necessary. Communicates with Underwriters and Agents to provide guidance for state regulations and requirements, obtain supplemental underwriting information as needed for cancellation or filing processes.
  • INFORMATION VERIFICATION: Reviews policy information with available authority information, such as FMCSA Licensing and Insurance, for inconsistencies in the data and confirms compliance with Company requirements or provides recommendations to the underwriter for changes. Identifies and/or reviews proper documentation for cancellation of risk and may request additional documentation when necessary.
  • COMMUNICATION: Communicates with agents, brokers, and regulatory agency personnel via email or phone with information requests or verifications as necessary. May take inbound calls from agents requesting information on cancellations or filings and handles the agent request or routes the request on to the appropriate underwriter or peer. May communicate with regulatory agency personnel to confirm information required for insured filing requirements.


Education

High school diploma or GED and two years college or equivalent work experience.

Experience

One or more years work experience.

Required Knowledge

  • Basic math
  • Personal computer related software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)


Preferred Knowledge

  • PC hardware/software capabilities and limitations
  • Insurance terminology
  • Policy coverages, endorsements, etc.
  • Company and department practices and procedures
  • Insurance related courses such as CPCU, IIA, or AU
  • Company underwriting guidelines for filing practices and procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skill
