About the Role
The Company is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Workers' Compensation Underwriting to provide strategic leadership and management to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the underwriting of workers' compensation and core commercial package clients in the West Region, with a focus on complex middle-market and large accounts. This role involves mentoring and developing a team of underwriters, ensuring adherence to company guidelines, and managing the selection and denial of business to meet pricing, retention, and profitability targets. The Assistant Vice President will also be expected to work closely with sales leadership to enhance producer relationships and stay current with market trends. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree, at least 10 years' of experience in a similar role, and a proven track record in building a profitable underwriting portfolio. The position requires extensive knowledge of property/casualty underwriting, NCCI, ISO, and state regulations, as well as strong management, leadership, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be adept at multitasking, making sound decisions, and be willing to travel as needed. Responsibilities also include creating management reports, monitoring underwriting execution, and addressing any issues that arise. The role is pivotal in driving the profitable growth of the portfolio and requires a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to underwriting.
