About YOU
You are an experienced and highly skilled Controller , you will be working closely with the COO, Sports while taking overall direction from the Controller, APMC. In your role, you are a candidate who has not only exceptional bookkeeping and finance management skills but also hands-on experience supporting the unique financial needs of the sports industry. This role will be critical in ensuring our financial operations stay on track while providing insights to help our sports teams and projects thrive.
What You Need to Succeed
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a CPA or equivalent certification is a must
• 7-10 years+ of experience in accounting or finance, with a proven track record of supporting sports organizations, teams, or related industries.
• Deep understanding of sports-specific financial challenges, such as managing variable revenue streams and event-related expenses.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• A team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Your Key Responsibilities include:
• Oversee all aspects of bookkeeping, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Manage sports-related financial operations, including tracking sponsorship revenues, game-day expenses, player-related costs, and more.
• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and variance reports specific to sports programs and initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and standards, including GAAP and tax filings, with a focus on sports-related financial transactions.
• Collaborate with sports teams, event managers, and external stakeholders to align on financial processes and reporting.
• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports tailored to the needs of our sports division.
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decisions for sponsorship deals, merchandise, and events.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
